We’ve just returned from nearly three weeks on the road in North America. The programme was all of Dowland’s Lachrimae with lutenist Elizabeth Kenny (pictured here practising, while I’m doing emails in the background….). We also did a wonderful Gibbons programme in New York with John Scott and the choir of St Thomas Church, which also included Nico Muhly’s beautiful piece My Days. The pace was at times gruelling but occasionally luxurious. We did get to play in some amazing spaces, including this unexpectedly glorious concert hall in San Antonio, which you see in the picture.
It was my last big project with Fretwork, after nearly four years as a permanent member and seven years since I first guested with them. It will be sad to leave, but there are exciting new projects on the horizon.
