I just played the most fun recital at Limewharf in Hackney, as part of the London Contemporary Orchestra soloists series. It was the UK premier of new pieces by Edmund Finnis and Nico Muhly, and I also had the great pleasure of working with LCO members Daniel Pioro, Oliver Coates and Robert Ames on a mixture of Ortiz, Gibbons, Morley and Rognoni. Playing renaissance music with brilliant people who normally play contemporary music is an experience that really every historical performer should have. Those guys saw things in the music that don’t normally come out in HP performances, but at the same time they were extremely sensitive. It was very inspiring. And it was a great venue with a very engaged audience. Bliss!
